About The Position

The Washington Post's Opinions section is expanding its reach and influence through compelling multimedia storytelling. The Executive Multimedia Producer will define and execute the audio and video strategy for Opinions, ensuring that our journalism resonates with audiences across platforms and engages diverse audiences. By shaping how our ideas are seen and heard, this role will play a critical part in advancing our mission to inform, challenge and inspire readers and listeners through thought-provoking perspectives.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success in multimedia journalism, with significant experience in both audio and video production.
  • Strong editorial judgment and ability to shape complex ideas into accessible, compelling stories.
  • Proven leadership and management experience, with the ability to inspire, coach, and guide creative teams.
  • Deep understanding of audience engagement and platform-specific best practices.
  • Track record of developing and executing strategy in a newsroom or media environment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to prioritize multiple initiatives.
  • Rigorous emphasis on factual accuracy and high editorial standards.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the audio and video strategy for Opinions, ensuring alignment with The Post’s editorial mission and growth objectives.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of multimedia professionals, fostering creativity, accountability, and excellence. (note: This might not be right away)
  • Partner closely with opinion editors, writers, and columnists to translate ideas into dynamic multimedia formats.
  • Identify new opportunities for storytelling formats, distribution channels, and audience engagement.
  • Manage production timelines, budgets, and resources to deliver high-quality audio and video content consistently.
  • Ensure multimedia projects are integrated across The Post’s digital platforms, optimizing reach and impact.
