About The Position

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Responsible for selling meeting space, food & beverage, guest rooms, group or social events and have a strong understanding and ability to negotiate and upsell hotel amenities. · Manage sales process with guidance and support from management: from generating leads through our database and your own network to building a pipeline, meeting with prospects and customers, negotiating pricing and closing contracts. · Report on your prospects on a weekly basis and be assessed quarterly against your sales targets. · Consistently prospect for new clients and make high volume of calls, meetings, and site visits weekly. Prepare all event documentation and coordinates with Sales, hotel departments and customer to ensure consistent, high level service throughout the pre-event, event, and post-event phases of hotel events. · Recognize opportunities to maximize revenue by up-selling and offering enhancements to create outstanding events. · Serves as the event planner's primary contact (following turnover) on property and is responsible for his/her experience. · Communicate effectively with Resort operation departments to ensure guest satisfaction and act as a liaison between field salesperson and customer throughout the event process (pre-event, event, post event) · Conduct professional site inspections and assist with sales process when necessary. · Be available to greet and assist client while on site at appropriate times (evening and weekends are required). Must be flexible to accommodate irregular or extended hours. · Lead pre-event and post-event meetings for assigned groups to review/communicate group needs and feedback. · Manage customer budgets to maximize revenue/profitability including forecasting event revenue (catering and audio-visual) for groups and reviewing billing with clients. · Stay current with trends; assist with business development, collect market and competitive intelligence. · Attend required in-house meetings as required. · Support the Director of Sales & Marketing as needed. · Adhere to all standards, policies and procedures of the resort and department. · The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Requirements

  • Two year’s related hotel/resort industry experience and/or training.
  • High school or GED graduate.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and provide instructions, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to effectively present information to individuals and all sizes of groups (i.e., clients, customers, guests, associates, managers etc.).
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Computer skills required for communication and reporting- Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of GDS and OTA web portals as they apply to transient and leisure travel.
  • Proficient in Outlook and Internet applications.
  • Must have valid Food Handler Certification.
  • Must provide valid document(s) to work in the US.
  • Valid California Driver License is required (for specific positions).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with front office systems and Delphi preferred.
  • TIPs certification preferred.
