The Opportunity: Silvergate San Marcos, is seeking an experienced and accomplished Executive Director to lead the community into its next chapter of growth and success. In this highly visible leadership role, you will oversee all operational, financial, and cultural aspects of the community, ensuring exceptional service, regulatory excellence, and a warm, resident‑centered environment. As the Executive Director, you will serve as the face of the community for residents, families, employees, and local partners. You will guide and inspire the management team, strengthen our service culture, and drive occupancy, revenue growth, and long-term financial health. Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in senior living, assisted living, healthcare, hospitality, or a comparable service-oriented environment, including significant responsibility for community operations, financial performance, people leadership, and resident experience.
  • Prior Executive Director experience large senior living community is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a complex management team, including 10 or more direct reports, with responsibility for setting expectations, developing leaders, driving accountability, managing performance, and building a high-performing culture.
  • Proven success improving occupancy and financial performance in a competitive or challenging market, including developing and executing census-growth strategies, partnering closely with sales and marketing, analyzing market and competitive trends, and establishing accountability for measurable results.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a community through periods of occupancy challenge or growth, with a track record of improving census, strengthening lead conversion and move-ins, supporting resident retention, and positioning the community competitively within its market.
  • Demonstrated financial and business acumen, including experience with budgeting, labor management, expense control, revenue generation, financial forecasting, and using financial and operational metrics to make sound business decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead day-to-day community operations, ensuring consistent service delivery, operational excellence, resident satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and alignment with organizational standards and goals.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements applicable to senior living and residential care environments, with demonstrated experience identifying operational risk, maintaining compliance, and implementing corrective action.
  • Proven ability to resolve escalated resident and family concerns with professionalism, empathy, sound judgment, and a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Demonstrated experience building strong relationships with residents, families, employees, physicians, vendors, and community partners, with a visible leadership presence and commitment to a high-touch, hospitality-driven resident experience.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organization and with diverse audiences.
  • Experience leveraging operational and business technology, including electronic resident management systems, CRM/sales platforms, workforce or scheduling systems, and Microsoft Office or comparable business applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, hospitality management, gerontology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant leadership experience.
  • Current California RCFE Administrator certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and management of the day-to-day operations of the community, ensuring high standards of care, service, and safety.
  • Maintain a visible presence throughout the community, interacting regularly with residents, families, and team members.
  • Facilitate positive work environment consistent with Silvergate’s mission to make it a place where every day matters for both employees and residents.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop department leaders and supervisory staff; establish clear expectations and accountability.
  • Lead and support on-site sales and marketing efforts to achieve occupancy and revenue goals.
  • Monitor occupancy, staffing levels, expenses, and operational performance to maintain strong financial performance; prepare and review reports as needed.
  • Manage community operations within approved budgets, including labor, expenses, and vendor oversight.
  • Ensure accurate billing, collections, and overall financial integrity.
  • Oversee resident care and services to ensure quality, consistency, and resident satisfaction.
  • Build strong, compassionate relationships with residents and families, addressing concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure compliance with all RCFE licensing requirements, state and local regulations, and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, corporate partners, and regulatory agencies to resolve issues and support smooth operations.
