About The Position

Responsible for leading the US and Above Markets C&E Team. Partner with the US SVP Therapeutic Area Leads to ensure US Commercialization strategies and tactics are compliant by design. Partner with the Above Markets Commercialization, Development and Corporate Functions to ensure awareness and adherence to applicable BMS compliance policies.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in compliance (can be combined with legal and/or internal audit/monitoring) in a highly regulated industry.
  • Compliance & Ethics experience in the pharmaceutical industry is required.
  • Direct and in-depth experience managing countries/markets with 3rd Parties and/or distributors/wholesalers.
  • Superior personal integrity and ethics, including an exceptional sense of discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic-thinking skills with an ability to identify and recommend process improvements and best practices.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects under deadline pressure with flexibility to work on broad range of matters.
  • Ability to discuss controversial topics with senior executive leadership and obtain their buy-in.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the right tone throughout the organization and, working with the regional business leadership team, ensure a steadfast commitment by all employees to integrity, quality, compliance, and uncompromising ethics.
  • Closely collaborate with the C&E leadership team and C&E Centers of Expertise team to (i) direct, prioritize and coordinate compliance activities in the United States; (ii) remain abreast of the status of all compliance activities; (iii) enforce policy and procedural document and recommend improvements to the same; and (iv) identify trends including education, monitoring and analytics.
  • Drive execution of global compliance programs with the global Compliance and Ethics (C&E) Organization.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk: implementing corrective action and providing general guidance on how to avoid or prevent similar situations in the future.
  • Consult and collaborate with other BMS functions (e.g., Law Department, Commercial, R&D, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Finance, HR, etc.) to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution.
  • Liaise with their direct manager as well as the C&E Centers of Expertise in the determination, follow-up and escalation of issues arising from market level compliance operations.
  • Ensure proper reporting of violations or potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate and/or required.
  • Manage the conduct, reporting and follow-up on any compliance related internal reviews (or the compliance-related aspects of any wider internal reviews or investigations as required).
  • Provide reports on a regular basis to keep regional senior management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts, including preparation of materials for compliance committees and Board Meetings as requested.
  • Partner with the VP, Global Compliance Officer to develop and implement a robust Growth & Development Plan for the US & Above Markets Compliance & Ethics team.
