The Harris County Pollution Control Services Department (HCPCS) is dedicated to protecting citizens from environmental impacts through consistent enforcement of state and federal regulations, aiming for clean air, water, and proper waste management. The Executive Director (ED) of Pollution Control, reporting to the County Administrator, will provide leadership and management for all HCPCS operations. This includes developing and implementing the department's mission, vision, and strategic plan. The ED will also review permit requests, drive countywide sustainability and climate action strategies, and develop departmental policies, including community monitoring. Ensuring compliance and enforcement of environmental rules and regulations is a key responsibility. The role involves educating the public on environmental risks and preventive measures, and advocating for sound environmental policies at all government levels to enhance the quality of life for Harris County residents.
