About The Position

We are seeking a qualified Executive Director for our Palliative department in our Aiken/ Augsta area. This candidate should be compassionate with excellent management skills to assist our palliative/hospice patients in the area. This role would be in person in our local offices daily. This is a salary-based position, with the opportunity to receive a monthly bonus. This is a full-time 8-hr hybrid position (8:00AM-5:00PM) (Monday-Friday). Position Summary: The Executive Director of Palliative Services is a dynamic and experienced RN leader responsible for the strategic vision, operational excellence, and overall success of our palliative and hospice programs. This executive will ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with all regulatory standards and organizational policies. The Executive Director will foster a culture of compassion, collaboration, and continuous improvement, leading a dedicated team of healthcare professionals to achieve outstanding outcomes for our patients and their families.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with an active SC license in good standing.
  • Master’s degree in nursing strongly preferred, substantial relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of advanced degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in hospice or palliative care, with at least 3 years in a senior management or executive role.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, program development, financial management, and quality improvement within a healthcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state regulations governing hospice and palliative care.
  • Current RN with strong clinical decision-making ability
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Financial acumen and experience managing complex budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for palliative and hospice services that align with the organization's mission, vision, and long-term goals.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for program growth, innovation, and expansion of services to meet community needs.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in palliative and hospice care.
  • Represent the organization externally as a thought leader in palliative care.
  • Oversee all aspects of day-to-day operations for palliative and hospice programs, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance.
  • Manage fiscal operations, including budget development, monitoring, and financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including Medicare, Medicaid, and other relevant accreditation bodies (e.g., Joint Commission).
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote patient safety, quality of care, and operational efficiency.
  • Optimize resource allocation, including staffing, equipment, and technology.
  • Establish and maintain a robust quality improvement program, regularly monitoring key performance indicators and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to all clinical practice guidelines and ethical standards.
  • Lead accreditation and regulatory survey preparation and response.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and evidence-based practice
  • Recruit, hire, train, and retain a highly skilled and compassionate team of palliative and hospice professionals.
  • Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Foster a positive and supportive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and open communication.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to staff.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, healthcare providers, referral sources, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in community outreach and education initiatives to raise awareness of palliative and hospice services.
  • Collaborate with other departments within the organization to ensure seamless patient transitions and coordinated care.
  • Champion a patient-centered approach to care, ensuring that the needs and preferences of patients and their families are at the forefront of all decision-making.
  • Monitor patient and family satisfaction and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
