About The Position

The Indiana University School of Education is at an exciting inflection point, reimagining how education transforms lives and launching bold, interdisciplinary initiatives. As Executive Director of Development, you will partner directly with the Dean to shape the future of the school, building philanthropic support for groundbreaking priorities. These include a new Center for Education Innovation and Entrepreneurship, emerging research in autism and neurodiversity, innovative health education partnerships, collaborative initiatives with other IU schools to accelerate innovation, and enhanced pathways for aspiring educators. This role is a significant opportunity to contribute to Indiana University's historic 'Never Daunted: Indiana University’s Campaign for the Future.' We seek a strategic and entrepreneurial advancement leader who is energized by building partnerships, uncovering philanthropic opportunities, and inspiring donors to increase their impact. You will lead a high-performing team, cultivate relationships with alumni, volunteers, faculty, and campus leaders, and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Eight or more years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, including success securing major and principal gifts.
  • Four or more years of progressive leadership and people management experience.
  • Demonstrated success securing major and principal gifts and leading comprehensive fundraising strategies.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and creatively, identifying innovative philanthropic opportunities and building support for transformational initiatives.
  • Experience fostering collaboration across campuses, schools, academic units, and advancement disciplines to achieve shared goals.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with donors, volunteers, faculty, senior administrators, and community partners.
  • A visionary leadership style with the ability to build culture, develop talent, and inspire high-performing teams.
  • Experience leading fundraising efforts within a large, complex, matrixed organization.
  • Strong strategic planning, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive leadership and building authentic partnerships.
