About The Position

The Executive Director of Clinical Services provides strategic leadership, coordination, and oversight of the district’s comprehensive clinical and student support services. The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring coherence, alignment, and effectiveness across all clinical service departments and personnel in support of student well-being, social-emotional development, mental health, and college, career, and life readiness. Working collaboratively with district and school leaders, the Executive Director leads the development and implementation of an integrated Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) that minimizes non-academic barriers to student success and advances the goals outlined in the Marlborough Public Schools 2030 Strategic Plan and the district’s Portrait of a Learner. The Executive Director ensures that clinical services are delivered equitably, consistently, and effectively across all schools, resulting in improved student outcomes, increased access to support services, and stronger connections among schools, families, and community partners.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Educational Leadership, Nursing Administration, Clinical Mental Health, Public Health or related field required.
  • Massachusetts licensure appropriate to one or more supervised disciplines required.
  • Massachusetts licensure as a Supervisor/Director, Principal/Assistant Principal, or equivalent leadership credential required.
  • Minimum of five years of successful experience in student support services, counseling, social work, school psychology, nursing leadership, or related clinical field required.
  • Minimum of three years of successful leadership or supervisory experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams and implementing systems-level change required.
  • Deep understanding of social-emotional learning, school mental health, trauma-informed practices, and student wellness.
  • Knowledge of MTSS frameworks and integrated student support systems.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and translate findings into actionable strategies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices.
  • Ability to foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders and departments.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations governing student services and health services.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading districtwide MTSS, SEL, mental health, or student support initiatives preferred.
  • Experience managing budgets, grants, and community partnerships preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a districtwide vision for clinical services aligned with the Marlborough Public Schools 2030 Strategic Plan and Portrait of a Learner.
  • Ensure coherence, consistency, and alignment of clinical services, practices, interventions, and supports across all schools and grade levels.
  • Lead the integration of social-emotional learning, mental health supports, school counseling services, health services, attendance supports, and family engagement initiatives into a unified student support framework.
  • Establish systems and protocols that ensure equitable access to services and interventions for all students.
  • Collaborate with district leadership to remove non-academic barriers that impact student achievement, engagement, attendance, and overall well-being.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts using student outcome data, climate data, attendance trends, and behavioral indicators.
  • Provide leadership and supervision for all district clinical service personnel.
  • Ensure implementation of evidence-based practices related to mental health, SEL, trauma-informed care, crisis response, and student wellness.
  • Develop and monitor districtwide systems for referral, intervention, case management, and service delivery.
  • Facilitate collaboration among counseling, nursing, SEL, adjustment counseling, and wraparound services to provide coordinated support for students and families.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to clinical and student support services.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) focused on prevention and responsive services.
  • Monitor and support district initiatives related to attendance, student engagement, behavioral supports, school connectedness, and mental health.
  • Coordinate districtwide crisis prevention, response, and recovery protocols in collaboration with school administrators and community agencies.
  • Support schools in identifying and addressing barriers to learning that impact academic and social-emotional outcomes.
  • Strengthen partnerships with community agencies, healthcare providers, mental health organizations, and social service providers.
  • Facilitate collaboration among schools, families, and community partners to ensure comprehensive supports for students.
  • Expand access to community-based resources and services that address student and family needs.
  • Serve as a district liaison to community organizations and regional agencies supporting youth development and wellness.
  • Establish measurable goals and performance indicators for clinical services aligned with district strategic priorities.
  • Analyze and report on attendance, behavioral, social-emotional, wellness, and student support metrics.
  • Utilize data to evaluate program effectiveness and inform continuous improvement efforts.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for the Superintendent, School Committee, and district leadership team.
  • Design and facilitate professional learning related to social-emotional learning, trauma-informed practices, mental health awareness, student wellness, and student support systems.
  • Build staff capacity to effectively support students’ social, emotional, behavioral, and health needs.
  • Foster collaborative professional learning communities among clinical service providers.
