About The Position

Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) is a global asset management organization with a long history and a significant presence worldwide. MSIM aims to deliver outstanding long-term investment performance and solutions to a diverse client base. The North American Institutional Sales Team focuses on driving growth by developing and enhancing client relationships. This Executive Director role will be responsible for driving fundraising results across MSIM's platform, including equities, fixed income, private credit, private equity, private real assets, and hedge funds. The individual will cultivate and manage relationships with institutional clients, working closely with consultant relations and investment teams to deliver MSIM's investment ideas and solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience developing new client relationships at an asset management platform, with exposure to private markets asset classes.
  • History of successfully building and maintaining client relationships with sophisticated asset owners.
  • Strong understanding of institutional sales processes, including best practices for working with consultant coverage and investment teams.
  • Understanding of institutional segments such as corporate defined benefit, public pension systems, insurance, endowments, foundations, and healthcare systems.
  • Investment and markets acumen with the ability to synthesize, distill, and articulate investment strategies clearly.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Results-oriented thinker who embraces accountability.
  • Success working in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Enthusiasm to travel as needed.
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63 required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with institutional asset owners across the East Coast region of the United States, covering public pensions, corporate pensions, insurance, endowments, foundations, and healthcare systems.
  • Cultivate strong partnerships with key internal stakeholder groups, including Consultant Relations, Product Specialists, Marketing, and Portfolio Management, to support strategy execution and fund marketing initiatives.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of investment strategies across public and private markets to effectively position solutions to clients.
  • Understand clients' investment objectives and provide tailored solutions to meet their needs.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior professionals and support the continued development of the organization’s talent base.
