Executive Director, Enterprise Agent Platform

Sony Pictures Entertainment•Culver City, CA

About The Position

Sony Pictures Entertainment is seeking an exceptional technology leader and hands-on builder to build, lead, and scale its enterprise AI agent ecosystem. Reporting to the SVP, Enterprise Intelligence Platform, the Executive Director will own the strategy, selection, architecture, and evolution of enterprise agent platforms and establish engineering standards that enable agents to scale securely and effectively across the organization. This is a hands-on leadership role. The Executive Director will remain actively engaged in architecture, engineering, prototyping, technical problem-solving, and critical design decisions while building and developing a high-performing team. The role will turn high-priority business opportunities into production solutions quickly, favoring platform capabilities, connectors, and reusable components where appropriate over unnecessary custom development. The role will establish reusable architectures, engineering patterns, and a shared pattern library, and will own the agent registry, control plane, and AgentOps capabilities, including monitoring, incident management, lifecycle management, and cost optimization. The Executive Director will partner with business teams and technology organizations to connect innovation with enterprise priorities, promote adoption, and ensure that production agents are secure, observable, reliable, accountable, and delivering measurable business impact. The anticipated base salary is $220,800–$270,000. The role may also qualify for an annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. Actual salary depends on factors including qualifications, relevant experience, education, certifications or licenses, and, if applicable, location.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in software or platform engineering, including 5+ years leading engineering teams.
  • Experience shipping and operating production AI agents on at least one enterprise agent platform by configuring and extending platform capabilities rather than building custom applications from scratch.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven ability to build reusable, maintainable patterns adopted by other teams, and sound judgment about when platform primitives are sufficient and when custom engineering is needed.
  • Track record of delivering measurable business outcomes and driving adoption of new ways of working.
  • Experience meeting enterprise security, governance, and data-handling requirements when shipping AI to production.
  • Moderate to advanced experience working with and/or managing most of the following: enterprise agent platforms, low-code/no-code agent builders, platform-native primitives such as topics, actions, flows, connectors, and knowledge sources; platform lifecycle management, environments, solutions, and deployment pipelines; agent control planes and administration centers; and platform selection across vendors.
  • Moderate to advanced experience in agent engineering, including tool and connector design, MCP, A2A, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector search, agent evaluation frameworks, prompt/context/harness engineering, and multiagent orchestration patterns.
  • Moderate to advanced experience in governance and AgentOps, including agent registries and lifecycle, agent identity and access, observability and tracing, AI cost management and FinOps, responsible AI, and AI governance frameworks.
  • Moderate to advanced experience with cloud and engineering foundations, including cloud AI services and model gateways, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, API management, and enterprise integration.
  • Hands-on player-coach leadership, with the ability to build a team from scratch and move quickly.
  • Hands-on technical leadership.
  • Ability to influence without authority.
  • Strong vendor and partner management skills.
  • Clear communication with business and technology executives.
