The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Office of General Counsel is seeking a paralegal/legal secretary with 3-5 years of experience. This role requires familiarity with the Florida court systems and experience working with 3-4 attorneys. The ideal candidate will have experience filing documents with the court, contacting judge's assistants, managing attorney case files and calendars, and a general knowledge of court systems. Responsibilities include basic word processing, using templates to draft correspondence, and creating documents. The legal assistant will act as the legal secretary for assigned attorneys, handling tasks such as formatting, finalizing, typing, and filing documents, preparing letters and legal documents from drafts, filing pleadings and motions, serving legal documents, and maintaining attorney case files. The role also involves preparing subpoenas, discovery requests, scheduling hearings, trials, and depositions, arranging facilities, retaining and scheduling court reporters, and obtaining transcripts. General secretarial duties like managing phone calls and travel arrangements are also included. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential, as is supporting office management and closing case files as needed.
