About The Position

Join the Black Cultural Zone CDC as an Executive Assistant to the President & CEO! Are you a highly organized, mission-driven professional who thrives at the intersection of executive operations, community impact, and strategic coordination? The Black Cultural Zone Community Development Corporation (BCZ CDC) is seeking an Executive Assistant to the President & CEO to serve as the administrative linchpin and Cabinet Secretary for our President & CEO. This is an in-person, temp-to-hire role based at BCZ’s headquarters in East Oakland — designed for a sophisticated, technologically adept, and mission-aligned professional who is ready to be the right hand of a visionary executive leading a multi-entity community empowerment ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Brings 5+ years of experience directly supporting an Executive, CEO, or Executive Director in a complex, multi-entity organizational environment
  • Has advanced, hands-on proficiency with ClickUp and SmartSheet (strictly required)
  • Demonstrates exceptional emotional intelligence, confidence, and “managing up” skills to keep high-level executive leaders organized and accountable
  • Has a track record of anticipating operational bottlenecks and solving administrative challenges proactively before they escalate
  • Is able to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment in all matters related to executive operations, board governance, and organizational strategy
  • Is committed to being physically present on-site, with deep alignment to BCZ’s mission of centering Black culture, arts, and economic empowerment in East Oakland

Responsibilities

  • Manage the operational rhythm of the Network Council of Chiefs by scheduling cabinet meetings, distributing weekly briefings, collecting agenda items, and tracking deliverables across the Foundation, Network, MSO, and Liberated Land Trust entities
  • Attend all Network Council and high-level leadership meetings alongside the President & CEO; take rigorous notes, synthesize deliverables into BCZ’s project management systems, and follow up with Chiefs to hold them accountable to cross-entity deadlines
  • Establish and maintain an internal triage system for incoming requests from the cabinet, ensuring issues are properly funneled before reaching the President & CEO’s desk
  • Architect the President & CEO’s calendar using a Theme Days approach — clustering interactions by focus area to protect deep-work time and eliminate context-switching
  • Monitor, prioritize, and triage the President & CEO’s high-volume inbox; draft sophisticated, high-level correspondence that accurately mirrors the President & CEO’s authentic voice
  • Oversee execution pipelines for contracts, MOUs, land agreements, and board resolutions across the parent foundation and its subsidiaries, ensuring compliance and timely digital filing
  • Serve as the primary administrative liaison for the various Boards of Directors across the network, coordinating board packets, tracking committee updates, and documenting official minutes
  • Interface with institutional funders, city officials, real estate partners, and grassroots community leaders with professionalism, warmth, and executive presence
