Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Collaborate with Gilead Research, Manufacturing Procurement, Corporate Engineering and Facilities and Kite leadership & stakeholders to identify requirements aligned with business strategies and priorities. Successfully engage in strategic planning and target setting to deliver meaningful business impact. Own and manage holistic portfolio end-to-end, including category strategies and operational excellence projects, serving as single point of contact and ensuring accountability for delivering measurable category outcomes aligned with overall procurement organization goals for select business units and categories. Apply deep category-specific, technical expertise to drive procurement impact and value through global, enterprise category strategy formulation for research and facilities related categories. Deliver initiatives which drive earlier & increased procurement engagement and higher CSAT from stakeholders. Partner with Gilead Research, Manufacturing Procurement, Corporate Engineering and Facilities and Kite stakeholders to provide unified, coordinated approach to supplier engagement and communication. Collaborate with Pharmaceutical Development & Manufacturing organization to align on and implement procurement strategies for areas of common spend and supplier utilization Establish and monitor key performance metrics, status on deliverables, dashboards, and market intelligence, ensuring alignment with procurement wide KPIs. Drive business adoption and compliance with preferred supplier programs. Own project delivery cadence & stakeholder alignment by proactively managing timelines, resolving issues, and ensuring executive visibility into key milestones and decisions. Responsible for leading and developing global/regional facilities and research category strategies, including liaising with regional representatives to incorporate local and regional nuances into global category strategy. Communicate category strategy to executives and cross-functional leaders to build alignment and secure investment. Oversee development of key enterprise-wide category strategies and hold accountability for category for category outcomes and value delivery. Drive continuous improvement and culture of collaboration by serving as a champion for the procurement organization's visions and strategic goals with business stakeholders. Influence decision-making and gain adoption by leveraging compelling category and sourcing insights to contribute to business strategies. Provide oversight of implementation and operational execution of enterprise-level Procurement led programs and policies that deliver against business objectives and achieve effective 'customer of choice' relationships with internal stakeholders and preferred suppliers. Ensure accountability for the success, effectiveness, and on-time delivery of all the applicable deliverables and operational processes. Seek, develop, and establish business relationships with key suppliers. Meet regularly with regional and divisional stakeholders to ensure outstanding customer satisfaction and continuous improvement against category targets are met. Partner with suppliers and internal senior leadership to define clear supplier targets which meet Gilead's business needs, including quality, reliability, innovation, and cost. Act as a strategic leader and thought partner to drive alignment on business priorities. Translate business strategy into actionable category plans to deliver measurable value to organization. Drive Value Creation: Identify specific cost improvement opportunities and present them to the marketing leadership for prioritization, resourcing, and implementation; align with regional teams on the implementation plans and drive execution and adherence to the strategy. Partner with Category Strategy, Portfolio Management & Sourcing Excellence leader to implement end to end frameworks, methodologies, tools, governance, and enablement required to drive consistent, high quality category strategies and sourcing execution across the enterprise, holding teams accountable to leveraging and adopting standards. Collaborate with Supplier Risk, Inclusion, and Sustainability functions to create a standard and repeatable process to integrate business diversity and responsible procurement into an overall value proposition. Develop, implement, and drive fact-based negotiation strategies with critical strategic vendors across assigned categories to deliver savings in-line with procurement wide goals. Identify, develop, and advise implementing Procurements goals and category strategies based on deep subject matter expertise and an informal understanding of industry/market dynamics. Provide holistic overview and insights across category accountabilities, including category strategy development, business partner engagement, sourcing, contracting, negotiating, and supplier management at senior levels with key business units. Foster and nurture a culture of inclusion, results orientation, psychological safety to optimize team performance. Experience Requirements: 16+ years professional work experience plus a BS/BA or 14+ years professional work experience plus a MA/MS or MBA in a corporate environment, preferably in the areas of DEI, procurement and supplier management, or corporate strategy. 10+ years' experience heading and managing procurement leaders & teams with a focus on mentoring, coaching, and performance management, with focus on categories such as Research services, lab supplies, construction, site services, etc. Experience supporting Global Procurement transformation projects working directly with business partners to execute on defined scope, budget and transformation results. Proven track record of applying procurement principles, concepts, best practices, and standards along with an in-depth knowledge of industry practices required. Ability to develop category and sourcing strategies by identifying opportunity areas, with a proven record of effectively directing and leveraging procurement spend in assigned category areas by leading global cross functional teams. Experience managing and maintaining strong supplier relationships. Strong leadership presence and negotiation/contract management experience Extensive knowledge and experience with procurement/spend systems data and analysis to drive decision making. Experience working with and leading multiple projects and teams simultaneously across a matrixed organization. The salary range for this position is: $281,010.00 - $363,660.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary.
