About The Position

RTHS seeks an exceptional education teacher who is passionate about supporting students. This individual will have an unwavering belief that all students can achieve at high levels and a strong commitment to partnering with our general education teachers to drive incredible outcomes for our students, realizing the potential of an innovative STEM education model. Part of a four-person team, the EC teacher would host sheltered seminars and serve as an ICR teacher in Math classes. The goal of an exceptional education teacher is to support student development. Our EC teachers work relentlessly with their teammates to ensure that all of their students not only are able to enhance their academic abilities, but they also help our students gain a broader understanding of the world, while adhering to the established North Carolina standards. This incredible work is done through coaching and support from administration, implementing regular feedback, collaboration with colleagues, data analysis, and working to make sure that students who come in below grade level rise above the challenges they face.

Requirements

Valid NC Exceptional Education certification and teaching license
Previous experience with Math instruction
Experience using technology to drive instruction
Bachelor’s Degree
Belief in the mission of Research Triangle High School
Investment in innovative teaching techniques, including personalized learning
Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player

Nice To Haves

2+ Years of teaching experience preferred

Responsibilities

Support general education classroom teachers with the implementation of established curriculum and/or individual student plans.
Provide input on the development of individualized education programs (IEPs) for students.
Maintains special education files, both paper and electronic files, as directed by federal, state, and local practices.
Collect data on individual student skills to determine the effectiveness of programming and measure progress toward IEP goals.
Facilitate IEP meetings for students on your caseload.
Maximize creating independence across all natural settings.
Work as a team member and advocate for students to gain exposure to general education peers and settings as appropriate.
Plan effective instructional and/or behavioral strategies for adapting and modifying general curriculum to ensure all students access academic content.
