Exception Handling Specialist - Microbiology
About The Position
The Exception Handling Specialist – Microbiology performs a vital role in resolving complex laboratory problems and supporting clinical laboratory operations. The position follows standard operating procedures for ordering, crediting, noting out, and canceling tests in the laboratory information system, recognizes when corrective action is needed, and implements effective solutions. The role works in a laboratory environment with biological hazards and PPE requirements and champions safety, compliance, and quality control. This full-time position is scheduled for 40 hours per week during first shift. The role involves routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI); employees must maintain strict confidentiality, follow applicable privacy and security standards, and access PHI only when needed to perform job duties.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous training or experience in specimen collection or processing.
- Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including telephones, computers, centrifuges, and audible alarms.
Nice To Haves
- One to two years of related experience in a clinical laboratory, data entry, or production.
