About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician helps keep hospital areas clean and sanitized to protect patients, staff, and visitors from infectious diseases and other hazards. The role uses specialized equipment and techniques, follows area-specific cleaning and disinfection procedures, and disposes of biohazard materials properly. The technician is expected to be committed to social justice and health equity and prepared to deliver care in new and innovative ways. The position is with CHI St. Alexius Health, part of CommonSpirit Health.

Requirements

• Ability to understand and complete written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to measure chemicals.
• Ability to drive riding equipment.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in cleaning and disinfecting patient care areas.

Responsibilities

• Clean and declutter hospital areas through dusting, sweeping, mopping, and trash disposal.
• Sanitize hospital areas using approved tools, chemicals, procedures, and equipment, following protocols specific to locations such as patient rooms, emergency rooms, operating rooms, hallways, nurses’ stations, waiting areas, and restrooms.
• Restock supplies in supply areas, common areas, patient rooms, and supply closets, including soap, paper products, linens, and cleaning supplies.
• Follow proper techniques for disposing of medical waste, including biological or biohazard waste such as bodily fluids and sharp implements.
• Remain patient, kind, and personable when interacting with patients, visitors, and staff.
