About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician (EVS Tech), also referred to as an Environmental Aide, helps maintain a safe and healthy hospital environment by cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, operating rooms, common areas, and other surfaces to help prevent infection. The position handles waste disposal, restocks supplies, maintains floors and surfaces, and responds to urgent cleaning needs. The role is per diem (PD/PRN as needed) at Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, Texas. The listed hours are 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with an eight-hour shift; the posting identifies the shift as nights and evenings. The position requires the ability to read, understand, and communicate effectively. One year of knowledge of acute-care hospital environmental-services techniques, practices, and procedures is preferred, as is a high school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Clean and disinfect patient rooms, operating rooms, and common areas to help prevent the spread of infections.
Dispose of medical and hazardous waste according to hospital protocols.
Restock supplies, including gloves, masks, and cleaning materials, in various hospital areas.
Clean and maintain floors, restrooms, and other surfaces using specialized equipment and chemicals.
Respond to urgent cleaning needs, such as spills or contamination incidents, and communicate promptly using phones, handheld radios, pagers, and other devices.
Maintain cleanliness in the hospital and adjacent buildings; this may require traveling independently between facilities.
