About The Position

The Housekeeping Associate III is responsible for the general appearance of resilient floor and carpeted surfaces in corridors, patient rooms, public areas, offices, treatment rooms, and any other areas deemed necessary by the supervisor. This role performs terminal cleaning of Operating Rooms, Cardiac Cath Labs, Intensive Care Units, Electrophysiology Labs, Labor & Delivery Rooms, Labor & Delivery Operating Rooms, Recovery Pre-holding areas, and Behavioral Health Units, or in assigned areas in accordance with standard departmental procedures and hospital objectives. The position also involves stripping and waxing floors and other floor technician responsibilities. The associate must complete established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

High School Graduate or GED, or 3 years of full-time work experience in Environment Services in lieu of education.
Able to read, write and understand the English language.
3 years of cleaning experience in hospitality or healthcare setting.
Terminal cleaning experience.

Responsibilities

Performs cleaning functions in assigned areas using prescribed methods.
Maintains assigned equipment for cleanliness and has repairs made when necessary.
Observes and reports the need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building and fixtures.
Applies proper infection control practices and isolation techniques.
Performs other assigned tasks.
Accounts for cleanliness and neat appearance of assigned areas, ensures that the schedule is complete, and instructions from supervisors are followed.
Utilizes tools, supplies and chemicals for their intended purposes so that equipment and hospital property are not damaged.
Uses good judgment and proper procedures in the performance of assigned tasks.
Supports the mission and vision of the Baptist Healthcare System and demonstrates excellent customer service at all times.
Understands and enforces system, departmental and hospital policies and procedures as well as established rules and regulations.
Trains in other functions or positions to ensure satisfactory operation of the department/work unit or to permit flexible staffing assignments.
Complies with System and facility safety policies and rules; utilizes appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; reports all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
Demonstrates ability to work in a fast-paced and customer service-oriented environment and to perform duties and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
