EVS Associate - Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehab (Weekend Day Shifts)
About The Position
The EVS Associate helps maintain high housekeeping standards by cleaning assigned areas according to schedules and specific methods, providing patients, visitors, and staff with a sanitary, orderly, and safe patient-care environment. The role helps prevent cross-contamination, control bacteria and odors, and maintain acceptable aseptic conditions. Associates may also assist with moves, recycling, supply delivery, and removal of trash and biohazard waste. The position is scheduled Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It is based at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital, 1513 Race Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Six months to one year of housekeeping or cleaning experience in a healthcare environment preferred but not required.

Responsibilities
- Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff in a manner consistent with Jefferson's values.
- Maintain clean, sanitary, and safe assigned work areas by following departmental policies and procedures.
- Dispose of biohazards according to EPA and OSHA codes and regulations, including environmental contaminants such as batteries, mercury thermometers, and needles; keep the biohazard food and loading area safe and free of debris.
- Maintain equipment, including cleaning carts, buckets, floor machines, and supply closets.
- Comply with personal protective equipment requirements when protection is needed from blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, and other hazardous substances.
- Follow hospital and departmental hand hygiene policies.
- Maintain carpet and hard-surface flooring according to departmental procedures.
- Use safety precautions when pushing equipment and report faulty mechanical, structural, or electrical problems according to safety policy.
- Use wet-floor signs to prevent slips and perform duties in compliance with safety policies and practices.
- Converse with patients and visitors using scripting, extend courtesy, and demonstrate high standards of conduct.
- Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and supplies, and with recycling and set-ups when requested by a supervisor or staff member.
- Respond to pages or phone calls in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
