About The Position

The Events Manager is responsible for leading end-to-end execution of events at West Edmonton Mall with a focus on creating experiential events that engage and excite guests. This role partners with other members of the Marketing Team and relevant departments to plan, organize and execute events that elevate the WEM brand and drive visitation.

Requirements

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in Marketing, Events Management, Commerce or extensive related industry experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in event coordination, promotions, or events marketing-based position.
  • Must be self-driven, self-motivated and be able to take charge of a situation when required.
  • A strong level of negotiation skills and experiences with developing and negotiating event contracts.
  • Exceptional time management skills and the ability to work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment with set deadlines and planned time frames.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, computer, and communication skills are required for success in this position.
  • Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, organize, and manage all phases of the various events held within West Edmonton Mall including ideation, planning, sourcing, contract negotiations, logistics planning, implementation and evaluation of events and entertainment.
  • Identify and implement new and unique events to be held at West Edmonton Mall, including events related to: retailers, concerts, celebrities, sports, charities and large-scale activations.
  • Research, initiate, develop and foster relationships with potential sponsors for events.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external event partners including clients, sponsors, booking agents, talent, and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive events calendar to support short-term execution and long-term planning.
  • Refine event processes and other documentation for reference when necessary to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Establish task schedules to ensure alignment with department objectives, while coordinating with all technical, production, security, and operational teams for seamless execution.
  • Negotiate vendor agreements, manage budgets, and recommend annual spending to ensure cost-effective, high-quality events.
  • Manage relationships with sub-contractors, sponsors and client groups and deliver post event analysis, budget recaps and participants’ feedback to inform future plannings.
  • Lead the promotion of events through integrated marketing campaigns, coordinating across digital, social, email, paid media, and on-site channels to maximize awareness and attendance.
  • Provide ongoing leadership and direction to event staff including planning, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure goals are met consistently.
