About The Position

The Events Director is responsible for leading all special events for Junior Achievement of South Florida. This role is ideal for a strategic, relationship-driven professional with strong sales instincts and a passion for community engagement. A key focus of this role is designing creative, mission-aligned events that deliver exceptional guest experiences and leave a lasting impact. The Director will drive sponsorship growth and corporate partnerships by developing opportunity strategies, identifying and cultivating prospects, negotiating vendor agreements, securing commitments, and ensuring the successful delivery of partnership benefits. This position plays a key role in advancing the organization’s mission through impactful events and meaningful stakeholder relationships.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to plan and execute large-scale fundraising events.
  • Skilled at securing and managing donor and sponsor relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work within a project management system to effectively oversee multiple projects.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, volunteers, and committees effectively.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Skilled at cultivating and maintaining partnerships with stakeholders.
  • Experience working with marketing teams to promote events and initiatives.
  • Competence in budgeting, financial tracking, and reporting.
  • Comfortable using donor databases, event platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to work evenings/weekends and maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • 6+ years of full-scale event production management and leadership experience, nonprofit experience a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • Experience in customer service best practices.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, walking, and occasionally required to reach, bend, lift, or climb.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation, development, and successful execution of all fundraising events.
  • Oversee all event components including event and affinity group leadership committees, marketing, budgeting, auctions (silent/live), entertainment, logistics, staffing, volunteers, décor, insurance, guest lists, A/V, and program development (speakers, script development, schedules).
  • Manage vendor relationships by sourcing, negotiating, and securing contracts that align with event goals and budgets, while ensuring high-quality service and long-term partnerships.
  • Evaluate and refresh events annually to ensure they remain engaging and relevant.
  • Provide post-event analysis and recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure each event reaches its revenue goals.
  • Work with Board Members and volunteer event committees to ensure their success of securing resources (sponsorships, auction items, etc.) to support events.
  • Use a consultative approach to develop customized sponsorship and proposal packages aligned with funder priorities.
  • Manage internal staff involved in event execution, including the CEO, Development Team, Marketing Manager, and Facility team.
  • Manage volunteer event Co-chairs and Committees (Board Members and community leaders) to ensure they meet committee goals.
  • Engage affinity group members, JA students, other groups of volunteers in pre- event activities.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to ensure timely and effective promotion of events before, during, and after execution.
  • Ensure all partner deliverables (e.g., marketing metrics, testimonials, reports) are met in coordination with JA staff.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare invoice requests, manage budgets without overages, and ensure proper coding and organization of all expenses.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of contacts and revenue pipelines, including prospecting, research, networking, and outreach activities.
  • Work with the team to implement meaningful recognition programs for supporters, including awards and event participation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Supervise the 1-2 event team members to ensure they are meeting all stated goals.
  • Provide guidance and expertise for other Junior Achievement events and/or third-party events at JA World as needed. This includes some program-related events, such as graduations, student retreats.
