About The Position

At YWCA Greater Lafayette, events serve to raise awareness, strengthen community connections, and support the organization's mission-driven work. This role is ideal for an organized, creative, and dependable individual who enjoys transforming ideas into successful events and making a real impact. The Event Planner is responsible for the comprehensive planning and execution of YWCA signature events, fundraisers, and various smaller community events throughout the year. This involves managing all logistical aspects to ensure memorable experiences. The position requires someone who can anticipate challenges, maintain composure under pressure, and quickly resolve problems as they arise. Events are crucial for funding programs, increasing visibility, and connecting the community to YWCA's mission, which is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. The role contributes to creating momentum for life-changing work.

Requirements

  • Experience in event planning, coordination, or execution
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage budgets and use resources responsibly
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • Strong customer service mindset and professional presence
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle cash responsibly when needed
  • Passion for YWCA’s mission and community impact

Nice To Haves

  • Experience organizing or leading volunteers preferred
  • Graphic design skills such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or InDesign are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed event plans, timelines, budgets, and vendor lists
  • Coordinate logistics including venues, catering, décor, audiovisual needs, rentals, and vendors
  • Work closely with the Director of Development, Communications Manager, Fundraising Committee, and outside partners
  • Manage timelines to ensure deadlines are met and projects stay on track
  • Oversee event setup, event-day operations, breakdown, and cleanup
  • Recruit, schedule, and manage event volunteers
  • Communicate with vendors and community partners to ensure smooth execution
  • Assist with attendee experience, registration, and general event flow as needed
