About The Position

Introductory Internship for Rising Sophomores & Juniors. The Event Operations Intern will be exposed to all areas of the Event Operations department in a large, private club environment, to supplement an academic program in hospitality management or related field. The intern will develop and demonstrate knowledge through a series of trainings and structured conversations with managers. The Event Operations Intern will spend the majority of the summer learning the operation with involvement in the set-up, service and break-down of a variety of events. Towards the conclusion of the internship, the Intern will be assigned several leadership responsibilities within the operation. In addition to the in-depth training within the Event Department, interns will also have the opportunity to participate in various educational program opportunities.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a college degree program in hospitality management or similar academic field

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working or training in food and beverage service at a private club preferred

Responsibilities

  • Involvement in the set-up, service and break-down of a variety of events.
  • Assigned leadership responsibilities within the operation towards the conclusion of the internship.
  • Participate in various educational program opportunities, such as: Farmington Country Club Orientation & Historical Tour, Attendance to CMAA Education Session & Club Tour, Meeting(s) with General Manager/COO and Assistant General Manager to discuss career goals and ask questions, Opportunity to shadow & work in other departments, Various Workshops throughout the summer: Resume/Cover Letter Workshop and Employment Law Workshop with Director of HR, Beverage Workshops & trainings with Beverage Managers, Golf & Racquets Workshops with the Head Golf Pro and Head Racquets Pro, Finance Workshop with Head of Finance, Governance Workshop with the Assistant General Manager, Communications Workshop with Director of Communications, Membership Workshop with Director of Membership, Culinary Operations Workshop with Executive Chef, Attend various meetings that would be beneficial to the intern’s development, Bi-Weekly meetings with direct manager and/or internship program facilitator for on-going feedback and goal setting, Participate in club-sponsored training offered during the internship period, which may include: Safety Certification Training (First Aid, CPR, AED) and Safe Beverage Service Training (TIPS).
