About The Position

The Event Experience Manager is responsible for servicing assigned convention client accounts while maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy. Provide current services while creating additional methods of ensuring meetings and conventions in Milwaukee are successful and the potential for return business high. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing departmental support, project management and assistance as needed to aid in an exceptional level of customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in business, marketing, communications or related field, or; An equivalent combination of education, experience and training that would provide the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the successful performance of the essential job duties.
  • Minimum three years of related experience in account services, event management, or related field.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to write, speak, present and represent the company in a concise and professional manner.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to handle multiple projects, priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision and a keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated success in client relationship building and management.
  • Must possess a positive attitude and professional demeanor, tact and judgment in dealing with many internal and external customers.
  • Strong commitment to diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.
  • Ability to present to diverse audiences, specifically, radically, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities.
  • Energetic, highly motivated, self-starter with innovative ideas and strategies a must.
  • Advanced computer experience including MS Office and database applications required.
  • This position requires travel by business auto, personal auto, and airplane. Candidates must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
  • Must be available to work occasional nights and weekends.
  • Ability to sit at desk, operate computer keyboard and view computer screen for six to eight hours per day.
  • Must be able to hear and converse via telephone and in person.
  • May be required to lift boxes and small equipment on occasion up to 50 pounds in weight.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
  • This position requires travel by business auto, personal auto, and airplane.

Responsibilities

  • Directly consult and work closely with assigned convention/meeting accounts from their initial booking through the post-convention meeting, ensuring a positive Milwaukee experience.
  • Maintain constant communication with the client throughout the planning process, from initial services communication to continual phone and meeting contact.
  • Provide services to clients, such as welcome program, pre-promotion and promotional needs, volunteer requests, and partner referrals for event needs.
  • Contact all clients a minimum of six months prior to their meeting to ensure that planning is progressing, and their needs are being met by Visit Milwaukee.
  • Work closely with and assist sales managers for client site visits and meetings to help secure definite bookings.
  • Build site itineraries for client site visits and manage site inspection schedule with hotels and other partners.
  • Provide service presentations to convention and partner groups as needed.
  • Assist with services external bookings for un-booked business that request services.
  • Attend pre-promotion trips, pre and post-con meetings, and related convention planning meetings as needed.
  • Document communication with clients, event services being utilized, hotel blocks, attendance, economic impact, and other event details using CRM.
  • Assist with non-assigned accounts as needed to help in specific areas.
  • Assist with planning and execution of FAM (familiarization) tours for prospective meeting planners and other internal company events as needed.
  • Assist Visitor Experience team with activations by setting up booth, staffing during events, and engaging with visitors.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with partner businesses, with a focus on hotel and convention center services staff.
  • Attend weekly event staff meetings and quarterly citywide services staff meetings.
  • Attend Visit Milwaukee partnership activities as determined by Director.
  • Work closely with and assist other departments with projects/events as needed.
  • Assist in managing events via the on-line housing program as needed.
  • Attend industry training and events as appropriate. Represent Visit Milwaukee at events as needed.
  • Other duties assigned by the Senior Director of Event Experience.
