About The Position

First Round is a venture capital firm that partners with founders at the earliest stages of company building, assisting with crucial early hiring and equipping them with necessary skills. The Events Coordinator role is central to this mission, involving the driving of cross-functional event teams to ensure successful execution. Key responsibilities include managing the end-to-end design, planning, budgeting, logistics, and on-site coordination for experiences held at their San Francisco office and occasional offsite events. The coordinator will attend an average of 2-3 First Round events and dinners weekly, ensuring each is executed to high standards, and will communicate seamlessly with external attendees and vendors. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, takes extreme ownership, is exceptionally organized, demonstrates strong cross-functional leadership, is service-oriented, flexible, creative, and passionate about community building. This role is based in San Francisco and requires a minimum of Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the office.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of progressive event coordination experience.
  • Experience successfully managing at least 4-5 events (or the equivalent) at any given time.
  • Obsessed with the little things, noticing details like uneven tablecloths or mismatched fonts.
  • Possesses extreme ownership and works with an unusual sense of urgency and autonomy.
  • Highly organized, able to understand stakeholder and attendee needs, and project manage all event tasks from booking to follow-up.
  • Great at context switching between different types of events or modes of work (planning vs execution).
  • Great at cross-functional leadership, able to work across a spectrum of stakeholders and adapt style to audience.
  • Has a presence and the ability to earn respect from collaborators.
  • Proactive in pushing overdue tasks and holding people accountable who don’t report to them.
  • Service-oriented and flexible, motivated to jump in and help even when not asked.
  • Incredibly creative and not afraid to push boundaries, bringing new ideas and energy to events.
  • A people person who loves bringing communities together.
  • Based in San Francisco with a minimum of Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday required in office.

Responsibilities

  • Driving cross functional event teams (event sponsor, event hosts, etc) to ensure all tasks are on track and events are setup for success.
  • Managing the end to end event design, planning, budgeting, logistics and on-site coordination of experiences at our SF office and occasional offsite events.
  • Attending on average 2-3 First Round events and dinners weekly, and guaranteeing each event is executed to our standards.
  • Communicating seamlessly with external event attendees and external vendors to ensure that events run smoothly.
