About The Position

Assiniboine Park Conservancy (APC) is seeking two (2) Event Coordinators for 1-year terms. This role is part of the Community & Special Events team and is responsible for the successful planning and delivery of community, private, and corporate events. The Event Coordinator reports to the Director, Community & Special Events and supports the operational and client service aspects of event execution. This position works closely with other Event Coordinators and the Operations Coordinator to ensure seamless coordination and consistent guest experiences. The Event Coordinator manages the full cycle of non-catering events, including booking, planning, scheduling, contracting, execution, and post-event evaluation. They maintain accurate documentation in Event Pro, engage with clients to plan events that meet their needs and departmental sales goals, and support both community initiatives and revenue-generating opportunities. The role requires attention to detail, the ability to organize workflow, establish priorities, and maintain confidentiality with a high degree of accuracy. Collaboration with the team includes assisting with logistics, vendor coordination, setup and teardown, post-event analysis, and client follow-up. The Coordinator will also help develop new events, utilize APC’s event scheduling database (Event Pro) to identify new client event opportunities, and coordinate event set-up and take down. A thorough knowledge of APC’s venues, greenspaces, and facilities is essential. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required to support event operations.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and/or GED equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in event planning, coordination and/or event management.
  • Excellent proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Office software.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for quickly learning new software programs.
  • Ability to gain proficiency in the use and operation of audio-visual equipment.
  • Must possess a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • A post-secondary diploma and/or certificate in Hospitality & Event Management, Project Management, Tourism Certified Professional, or related field would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate information and pricing based on thorough knowledge of APC’s venues, greenspaces, and facilities.
