About The Position

Performs responsible event and league operations work in support of the City’s comprehensive athletics programming, including Youth Sports, Adult Leagues, and Title IX–compliant programs. Employees in this classification coordinate and oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of sports leagues, tournaments, instructional clinics, and special events across all assigned athletic facilities. Core responsibilities include preparing fields and facilities, coordinating with officials, coaches, volunteers, and partner organizations, ensuring proper equipment and safety standards, and monitoring events to address operational needs or participant concerns in real time. Employees serve as a primary point of contact for youth participants and their families, adult league players, and community stakeholders, requiring effective communication, sound judgment, and the ability to resolve conflicts or enforce program policies when necessary. This role plays a key part in supporting equitable access to athletics by implementing, monitoring, and upholding program standards aligned with Title IX requirements. A major responsibility of this position is to foster a positive, inclusive, and sportsmanlike environment for participants of all ages and skill levels. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Athletics Program Manager and is reviewed through meetings, field observations, reports, and participant feedback to ensure that programs operate efficiently, facilities remain safe and well‑prepared, and customers receive high-quality service.

Requirements

  • Event Coordinator I : Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Recreation Management, Physical Education, or a related field required ; plus six months of experience coordinating youth or adult sports leagues, athletic events, or recreation programs required ; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Event Coordinator II: Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management, Recreation Management, Physical Education, or a related field required plus two years of experience coordinating youth or adult sports leagues, athletic events, or recreation programs required or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
