The Red Coat serves as the operational leader for Event Services, ensuring flawless execution of meetings, conferences, and special events while delivering exceptional guest experiences. This role acts as the primary liaison between Event Planning, Banquets, Sales, Operations teams, and event clients to ensure all event requirements are executed to brand standards and customer expectations. The Red Coat drives service excellence, maintains the Red Coat Program, supports revenue opportunities through strategic upselling, and fosters a culture of teamwork, accountability, and hospitality excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily Event Services operations and ensure all meeting and function spaces are prepared according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), event resumes, and client specifications.
  • Lead and coordinate event setup, execution, and breakdown activities to ensure on-time delivery and exceptional presentation standards.
  • Maintain and enforce Marriott Event Service standards and Red Coat Program requirements throughout all events.
  • Conduct pre-function inspections to verify room readiness, cleanliness, safety, and operational excellence.
  • Manage departmental inventories, equipment, supplies, and par levels to support efficient event operations.
  • Coordinate with Event Planning, Banquets, Engineering, Housekeeping, and other departments to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Review event schedules and space utilization to maximize operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor departmental productivity, labor utilization, and operational performance to achieve business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel safety procedures, emergency protocols, and sanitation standards.
  • Serve as the primary on-site contact for meeting planners, group organizers, and event attendees throughout event execution.
  • Build strong client relationships and proactively address guest needs, concerns, and service opportunities.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest feedback, service recovery situations, and operational challenges.
  • Monitor service delivery and coach associates to consistently exceed guest expectations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by reviewing guest satisfaction results and implementing corrective actions when needed.
  • Participate in pre-event meetings to ensure clear understanding of client objectives and event requirements.
  • Promote a culture of hospitality that prioritizes personalized service and memorable event experiences.
  • Recruit, interview, onboard, and develop Event Services associates and supervisors.
  • Provide ongoing training, coaching, and performance feedback to support individual and team success.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and ensure adherence to departmental standards and operating procedures.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and administer corrective action processes in accordance with company policies.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and engaging work environment that supports associate satisfaction and retention.

  • Maintain knowledge of hotel operations, event technology, banquet service standards, and facility management practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Utilize hotel systems and reporting tools to support planning, scheduling, forecasting, and operational decision-making.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the department and hotel.
