About The Position

Metro Technology Centers is accepting applications for an Evening Electrical Technology Instructor. This role is responsible for the education and supervision of students, utilizing an occupation-based curriculum. The instructor will deliver instruction in a flexible manner to meet individual student needs, aiming to develop their knowledge, skills, work ethic, and compatible attitudes for employment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Oklahoma Construction Industries Board (CIB) Journeyman License (Required)
  • Minimum of four (4) years related industry experience

  • Strong computer-related communication and word-processing app skills

Responsibilities

  • Delivers instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences in the classroom, shop and/or work-based learning environment as established by State, National and/or District standards and requirements.
  • Instructs, facilitates and monitors and evaluates student learning at varying skill levels asynchronously and in all educational settings, like classroom, hangar, or worksite training.
  • Plans, prepares and delivers, and reports required materials and information in assigned program in the classroom, or shop, following State Department of Education criteria for effective teaching performance, ODCTE evaluation criteria, and Board required information and activities.
  • Establishes, and reports clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicates those objectives to students and administration.
  • Incorporates the use of digital instructional methodologies into lessons, lesson plans and instructional strategies.
  • Assigns and grades class work, assignments, projects, tests and provides feedback in a timely manner.
  • Adapts teaching materials and methods of instruction to facilitate and expedite the skill development of each student relative or teaching his/her training objective.
  • Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of school district.
  • Assist in and report job placement upon student program completion.
  • Monitor and report students' pace and progress throughout program completion.
  • Encourages and monitors the progress of individual students' eligibility and preparedness to take licensure, certification, or competency exams.
  • Communicates an understanding of basic psychological needs of the student by demonstrating an interest and concern for the development of each student's abilities, personal and professional growth.
  • Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Demonstrates, encourages and maintains safe conditions throughout the shop and classroom areas, cooperating fully with the District and campus safety departments.
  • Uphold student behavior expectations consistent with district/program guidelines and for working professionals.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly, while using appropriate language for educational settings.
  • Maintain email and phone responsiveness with colleagues.
  • Make recommendations that promote industry alignment and student success.
  • Recommend advisory members and other potential industry partnerships.
  • Attends and assists with planning advisory committee meetings to ensure that all training is relevant and current.
  • Maintain certifications/licensures consistent with CIB, district, and State.
  • Uphold district and Oklahoma teacher code of conduct.
  • Maintains professional level of competence in content areas and instructional techniques.
  • Maintains records and provides information on all students as required by the ODCTE, administration and the Board.
  • Maintains individual program inventory of items.
  • Requisitions through defined process for materials, supplies, and equipment in a manner which reflects planning ahead of actual needs.
  • Attends workshops, conferences and staff meetings, etc., as approved and/or required by administration, district, or Board of Education.
  • Works cooperatively and respectfully with co-workers, administration and other District employees.
  • Demonstrates the ability to read, speak clearly and deliver presentations.
  • Demonstrates ability to operate instructional equipment and ability to move around the classroom and shop.
  • Performs other duties as may be required by administration or Board of Education, commensurate with an instructional position.
  • Demonstrates punctual attendance, meeting deadlines and reliability.
