About The Position

AlphaGov is engaging an EV Cost and Financial Analyst for current public-sector fleet and charging studies. The analyst will build lifecycle cost and total cost of ownership models to help agencies compare gasoline, diesel, and electric vehicle options and develop realistic capital and operating budgets. Engagement scope, schedule, and fee are confirmed with the consultant before work begins. Engagements are remote-first with occasional client travel. With the consultant’s authorization, AlphaGov may identify them as an expert collaborator or key personnel on relevant proposals, and may request qualifications and past-performance narratives for those proposals.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience building TCO, lifecycle cost, or capital/operating cost models for fleets or energy projects.
• Working knowledge of EV energy costs, demand charges, incentives, and vehicle residual-value assumptions.
• Strong Excel or comparable modeling skills and the ability to clearly explain methods and results in writing.
• Comfort with 1099 project-based consulting, remote-first work, and occasional client meetings.

Nice To Haves

• Public-sector fleet, transit, or EV charging cost-study experience.
• Familiarity with NEVI, CFI, VW, IRA, or state clean-fleet incentive stacking in financial models.
• Experience presenting cost findings to finance directors, city managers, or elected boards.

Responsibilities

• Build total cost of ownership and lifecycle cost models for light-, medium-, and heavy-duty electrification.
• Compare vehicle, charger, electrical upgrade, energy, maintenance, and residual-value scenarios.
• Incorporate utility rates, demand charges, incentives, and tax credits into agency-ready analyses.
• Translate model results into clear tables, charts, and decision briefs for finance and operations leaders.
• Stress-test assumptions, including mileage, energy price, and incentive timing, and document sensitivity ranges.
• Support proposal cost narratives and study appendices when naming is authorized.
• Contribute qualifications and past-performance narratives to AlphaGov proposals when naming is authorized.
