About The Position

Spark Power is seeking an Estimator, Major Projects, to join our growing Major Projects Estimating team. This role is focused on complex electrical infrastructure opportunities across industrial, commercial, institutional, manufacturing, data centre, energy, and BESS sectors. The successful candidate will support the development of competitive, well-structured estimates and proposals for large-scale construction projects that require strong technical understanding, commercial awareness, and cross-functional coordination. Working within the Major Projects team, you will be involved early in the project lifecycle, contributing to pre-construction strategy, bid development, execution planning, commercial review, and overall pursuit approach. This position offers strong exposure across the business and the opportunity to help influence how major projects are positioned before they move into execution. The role offers the chance to work on large, meaningful construction projects and exciting new opportunities, while playing a key role in how those opportunities are shaped, priced, planned, and pursued.

Requirements

  • Experience in electrical estimating, project execution, project coordination, construction operations, project management, or a similar role related to major electrical construction projects
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, project sequencing, and cost drivers for electrical work
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid documents
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to build accurate, well-organized estimates under deadlines
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including operations, engineering, procurement, and commercial leadership
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with industrial, commercial, institutional, municipal, manufacturing, data centre, energy, or BESS projects would be considered an asset
  • experience with estimating software such as Accubid is an asset
  • Field experience in electrical construction is considered a strong asset
  • Trade certification, engineering technologist background, engineering background, or equivalent industry experience is considered an asset but not require

Responsibilities

  • Manage working relationships with clients, internal resources, and third parties such as vendors, subcontractors, ESA, and utilities.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties such as vendors, subcontractors, ESA, and utilities for the efficient execution of projects
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation.
  • Assist with development of project scopes and objectives taking into consideration risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop detailed project plans to track progress.
  • Use appropriate techniques to manage changes in scope, schedule, and costs.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate metrics such as timelines, cost, and scope.
  • Report and escalate issues to management as required.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Negotiate additional work items with customers as approved by management.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses, recommend training requirements, and evaluate performance of technical staff as it relates to the projects they are working on.
  • Ensure employees understand and follow company and regulatory safety policies and practices.
  • Participate in branch budget and business plan development, and financial review meetings as required.
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
