About The Position
Michels Construction, Inc. is seeking an Estimator for their Heavy Civil division. This role is crucial for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, attending pre-bid meetings, soliciting material and subcontractor quotes, and ensuring all aspects of a successful bid are completed. The position also involves collaborating with Project Management teams to follow up on bids and budgets to secure business. The ideal candidate will be forward-thinking, performance-driven, quality-focused, and capable of producing highly accurate work independently and in a timely manner. Michels Construction operates across North America, undertaking diverse heavy civil projects such as wharfs and ports, dams, water resiliency, wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, bridges, and railways, all with a commitment to safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, or equivalent degree from a 4-year college or university
- 3+ years of related heavy civil construction estimating experience, or equivalent combination
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of estimating and scheduling software (HCSS, B2W)
- Negotiation experience
- Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven and an acceptable driving record
