Position Purpose Develops cost estimates, facilitates development of pricing, and both formal and/or informational quotations/proposals for the fabrication of pressure vessels, skid packages, piping components and other pipe systems for Project Managers, Field Sales and Business Development support. Directly support the daily activities of the Thermatech-Project Managers (PMs) and runs small projects from beginning to end with Project Manager oversight.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand and analyze mechanical systems
  • Strong pre-planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to understand and interpret ASME vessel and piping codes as well as other codes as applicable.
  • Physical ability to access job sites, including some climbing and crawling in vessels and other related product lines.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal & written (ability to write letters, proposals, etc.)
  • Strong customer relations skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Construction/Project Management, or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant estimating/project support experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Directly communicate with customers in the form of initial meetings, phone conversations, and presentations to understand and define their project needs.
  • Understand and respond to Sales Team and Customer requests, both verbal and written, in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with staff to provide cost estimates, drawings, production schedules, etc.
  • Facilitate letters of quotation and/or formal proposals for presentation to the Customer.
  • Initiate meetings to evaluate project leads and discuss issues/concerns with bidding potential work.
  • Review RFQ or other information provided by potential Customer.
  • Review or coordinate the development of design calculations, drawings, etc. when required.
  • Work with vendors and/or Procurement to develop costs of materials and/or outside processing.
  • Document estimated costs for all aspects of fabrication, including materials, labor, outside processing, etc. according to established procedures.
  • Evaluate capacity and constraints in the shop.
  • Develop pricing and lead time estimate.
  • Communicate pricing and lead time directly to potential Customer, Sales Team or internal company contact.
  • Fulfill overall project-level responsibilities for Thermatech Project Managers by running small projects/repeat jobs with Project Manager oversight.
  • Proactively identify, communicate, and help manage project and estimating risks—including scope gaps, schedule impacts, material or capacity constraints, and commercial concerns—escalating issues early and supporting mitigation plans with Project Manager oversight.
  • Establish and follow-through on a personal professional development plan.
  • Travel as required to support new project sales and current project execution.
  • Support and maintain a Lean working environment.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
