About The Position

The Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge Program, in partnership with General Mechanical Services (GMS), a Crete United Company, is offering a structured apprenticeship for active-duty military service members approved to participate. This program is designed to provide transitioning service members with valuable commercial construction experience, specifically in mechanical estimating and construction operations, to prepare them for successful civilian careers. GMS, as part of Crete United, a national network of MEP companies, values the leadership, problem-solving, and adaptability skills developed in military service and aims to translate these into careers in the construction industry. The apprenticeship includes structured learning with experienced professionals, exposure to various aspects of MEP construction, leadership coaching, and potential for full-time employment.

Requirements

  • Active-duty members of the United States Armed Forces.
  • Command approval to participate in the Department of War SkillBridge Program.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a structured apprenticeship with experienced estimators and project managers.
  • Engage in weekly learning objectives and mentor-guided development.
  • Learn commercial estimating, takeoffs, bid preparation, scheduling, and project coordination.
  • Gain exposure to commercial and industrial MEP construction.
  • Receive leadership coaching and career transition support.
