Estimating Intern

About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Estimating Intern to join the team. This part-time student worker position offers hands-on experience in construction estimating while allowing students to balance academic commitments. The intern works alongside experienced estimators and contributes to project bids while developing estimating skills. The position typically runs from May through August and offers a competitive hourly wage commensurate with experience and qualifications, as well as an opportunity for skill development and advancement within the company.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a university, college, or technical school program in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Punctuality and reliability.

Nice To Haves

Basic knowledge of construction or estimating concepts.
Familiarity with estimating software such as InEight, HeavyBid, HCSS, Bid2Win, Agtek, Planswift, or Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to help determine project scope and costs.
Assist with takeoffs and prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for construction projects under supervision.
Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to support accurate and complete estimates.
Assist in tracking and analyzing project costs and flagging potential cost overruns.
Communicate with crew members, subcontractors, and team members to support project schedules and budgets.
Understand and follow safety regulations and guidelines, including wearing protective gear as required during site visits.
Participate in on-the-job learning opportunities to develop estimating knowledge and skills, including exposure to estimating software.
