About The Position

NOTE: This position would be able to work out of our Little Canada, Wayzata, or Burnsville offices, depending on preference. Make a real impact where it matters most by helping families protect what they’ve built and plan for the future. We’re seeking an experienced Estate Planning and Administration Attorney who thrives on both independence and a collaborative team environment. In this role, you will lead client relationships, design thoughtful estate plans, and guide individuals and families through pivotal life moments, from proactive planning to trust and estate administration. You will handle a range of matters, including wills and trusts, ensuring each plan is tailored, compliant, and built to last. You will manage your own caseload while also partnering with senior attorneys on complex issues and contributing to the firm’s broader legal strategy. This role offers a strong opportunity to grow your expertise in estate planning, wealth transfer, and asset protection while sharpening your skills in drafting, client advising, and trust and estate administration within a collaborative, team-focused environment.

Requirements

  • A four-year university degree and Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school are required
  • Active license to practice law in Minnesota
  • 3-7+ years of experience in estate planning
  • Experience in client-facing legal work
  • Strong legal drafting and analytical skills
  • Strong command of estate planning strategies, with the ability to design and implement customized plans involving wills, trusts, incapacity planning, and effective wealth transfer solutions
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, must be thorough while completing tasks
  • High-level of integrity
  • Investigative and curious nature
  • Strong problem-solving and conceptual thinking abilities
  • Ability to be autonomous and independently handle complex matters and relationships
  • Comfort discussing sensitive family and financial topics
  • Adaptability and openness to variety in the workplace

Responsibilities

  • Meet with clients to assess their estate planning needs
  • Educate clients on wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and other planning tools
  • Develop tailored estate plans based on family dynamics, asset structure, and clients’ long-term goals
  • Draft and review legal documents such as: Revocable and irrevocable trusts Powers of attorney (financial) Healthcare directives Medicaid long-term care pre-plans
  • Ensure legal documents reflect client intentions and are compliant with applicable laws and regulations
  • Stay current with changes in estate planning laws, tax regulations, and probate codes
  • Research complex legal questions regarding estate taxation, gifting, asset protection, etc
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and their families
  • Coordinate with financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals
  • Work closely with senior attorneys on complex matters
  • Support firm initiatives such as internal training, process improvement, or community engagement events as appropriate
