This role involves serving as a client-facing point of contact and communicating directly with clients, accountants, financial institutions, and other professionals throughout the estate administration process. The position requires preparing probate documents, assisting with the probate process (NJ required, NY a plus but not required), collecting assets, and obtaining date-of-death valuations. The paralegal will also prepare Federal and State estate and/or inheritance tax returns, prepare Receipts, Releases, and Refunding Bonds in connection with distributions, and assist with asset distributions and the closing of estates. Familiarity with portability elections, QTIP trusts, bypass/credit shelter trusts, GST issues, and related reporting on estate tax returns, as well as gift tax returns, is necessary.
