About The Position

The ESS Teacher works closely with teachers and families to support students enrolled in intervention programs, aligning with the school's mission. This role requires a deep understanding of specific learning differences, related areas, and various intervention/remediation methods. The ideal candidate is a Christian with a mature relationship with Jesus Christ, committed to the school's Statement of Faith, Charter of Core Values, and Employee Covenant, reflecting these standards in both professional conduct and personal lifestyle. The teacher must desire to collaborate with students, teachers, parents, staff, and administrators, exercising good judgment, setting a positive example, and complying with school standards. Effective and tactful communication, along with teamwork, is crucial.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in education.
Excellent classroom management.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated understanding of study skills and techniques.
Technologically savvy.
Detail oriented.
Must be a Christian with an authentic and a mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Must agree to the HCS Statement of Faith, Charter of Core Values and Employee Covenant in both their professional conduct and personal lifestyle.
Must be committed to incorporating these qualities and standards in carrying out the calling to Christian education.
Must have the desire to work closely with students, teachers, parents, staff, and school administrators.
Ability to exercise good judgment, set a good example, and comply with school standards.
Tactful communication in dealing with individuals at all levels.
Ability to work as a member of a team is critical.

Nice To Haves

An advanced degree in special education (learning disabilities, mild interventions) or related field is preferred.
NILD or Orton-Gillingham certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

Provide an appropriate educational experience for students who need academic support to successfully complete an HCS education.
Work with students as they navigate through social, personal, academic, and spiritual growth in light of their learning abilities.
Demonstrate a basic understanding of ability and achievement tests to assist with placement within the program.
Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning that enhances student abilities and addresses identified areas of weakness.
Maintain consistent communication with the classroom teachers for determination of accommodations and academic standards.
Evaluate student progress on a regular basis and provide written explanations of evaluations for the parents.
Provide consistent intervention utilizing HCS implemented methods and strategies.
Identify and implement intervention techniques to address skills that have not been mastered due to specific learning differences or attention deficits.
Prepare to deliver classroom interventions as assigned.
