About The Position

Goodrich High School seeks an advisor/coach to lead its competitive Esports program in the Michigan High School Esports League (MHSEL). The advisor will provide a welcoming, well-supervised experience that develops teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and Martian STRONG habits.

Requirements

• Experience supporting students and organizing extracurricular activities
• Must demonstrate the ability to work with adolescents/middle school age children.
• Familiarity with competitive gaming or a willingness to learn MHSEL rules
• Strong communication, organization, and supervision skills.
• Manage stress effectively.
• Display regular, predictable and reliable attendance.
• Tolerance for differences in student learning styles and rates.
• Must be able perform job responsibilities as listed below.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise regular team practices, league competitions, and related activities during the competitive season.
• Coach students in game strategy, communication, teamwork, and responsible online conduct; set clear expectations for attendance, academics, and behavior.
• Manage MHSEL registration, rosters, schedules, rules, results, and postseason requirements.
• Communicate schedules and updates with students and families through ParentSquare, and coordinate significant events or changes with administration.
• Recruit and welcome students, build student leadership, and promote positive representation of Goodrich High School.
• Oversee the Esports space and equipment, follow district technology and purchasing procedures, and provide a brief season-end summary.
