About The Position

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking an Engineer to manage and operate the critical eSPEC application, which serves as the centralized repository for process, limit, recipe, overlay, and defect specifications. This role involves working through the entire Software Testing Life Cycle to ensure changes do not disrupt the 24x7 manufacturing environment. The engineer will be the subject-matter expert for all eSPEC activities, including UI maintenance, back-end data integration, process improvement, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting. The position requires close collaboration with fab engineering, MES teams, and the Korean development counterpart to synchronize the application and database, manage migrations and upgrades, and enhance performance while maintaining reliability for high-volume production.

Requirements

B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of experience in a Software or System engineering role
Strong programming skills in C# or Java
Hands-on experience with relational databases (MS-SQL, Oracle, PL/SQL) and writing SQL queries
Experience working in Windows and Linux/Unix environments

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with source-control (Git/SVN)
Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and modern front-end frameworks (Vue.js)
Exposure to Manufacturing execution systems (MES) or process-control tools

Responsibilities

Own the full application life-cycle, including designing new features, maintaining and patching existing code, and managing version releases for both the application and its databases.
Ensure the application and database schemas are standardized with the Korean counterpart team, maintaining identical data models and configurations across sites.
Drive the production release process and continuously monitor application and database performance to meet fab requirements.
Lead all migrations and upgrades, ensuring successful planning, execution, and validation.
Provide second-level escalation and 24x7 support to guarantee uninterrupted system operation for the factory.
Understand existing source code, improve its logic, administer scheduled jobs, and promptly resolve execution errors.
Collaborate with fab engineering, MES groups, and other development teams to add functionality, solve integration challenges, reduce technical debt, and create clear documentation of architecture, change points, and maintenance procedures.
