Remote ESL Teacher (Part-Time) – Adult Learners | Virtual Language Platform
About The Position
IMMERSE is seeking experienced ESL instructors to teach adult learners through live instruction and immersive language-learning technology. Instructors lead engaging, structured communicative lessons in small groups, using realistic virtual environments such as meeting rooms, cafés, and workplace scenarios to help learners build confidence and real-world English fluency for professional and everyday communication. Sessions are 40 minutes, with groups of up to 12 learners. The role is fully remote and part-time, with up to 20 hours available. Instructors provide their availability, and classes are scheduled across global time zones on IMMERSE’s 24-hour, seven-day schedule. Availability during Priority Hours—Saturday and Sunday, including the stated regional start times—is prioritized for scheduling. Compensation varies by region and experience; in many regions, rates are $15–$25 USD per hour. Compensation includes instructional sessions, preparation time, onboarding and training, and operational meetings.
Requirements
- A BA in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field; alternatively, a bachelor’s degree plus an English teaching certification (120-hour TESOL certificate, CELTA, or equivalent) and extensive teaching experience.
- At least 2 years of structured ESL teaching experience.
- Experience teaching adult learners in groups of 8 or more.
- A strong foundation in communicative or task-based language teaching.
- Demonstrated ability to intentionally develop speaking and listening skills.
- C1 English proficiency (CEFR), Advanced High (ACTFL), or higher.
- Comfort using technology and learning new platforms.
- Organized, reliable, and professional.
- Ability to commit to consistent weekly availability.
- A Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) PC.
- An Intel i5-1135G7 or AMD Ryzen 5 5500U processor, or better.
- Intel Iris Xe or AMD Vega 7 graphics, or better.
- At least 8GB RAM and 10GB available storage.
- An Ethernet connection; Wi-Fi-only setups are not supported.
- Internet speed of at least 50 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload.
- A wired headset with a built-in microphone.
