About The Position

This is a full-time teaching position for English as a Second Language (ESL) and Bilingual/Special Instruction (BSI) within Paterson Public Schools. The role requires a deep understanding of New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS), WIDA standards, and mandated state testing. The ideal candidate will have excellent experience teaching and working with students across various grade levels, demonstrating strong initiative, moral character, and effective communication skills. The position also emphasizes the ability to integrate technology into lessons and utilize it for various administrative and instructional tasks. Requirements

  • Hold a New Jersey English as a Second Language certification.
  • Knowledgeable of NJSLS, WIDA, and mandated state testing.
  • Excellent experience teaching and working with various grade level students.
  • Excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of teaching English as a second language, child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning and children needing to learn English as a second language.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use technology and technological devices to enhance lessons, as well as for word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff, students, parents, and the community.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Highly motivated result-driven educator.
  • Meet such alternatives to above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Pending budget availability.
