About The Position

This position supports students with disabilities (ESE) in various capacities, including behavioral health and general health assistance. The role requires specific training and background checks to ensure the safety and well-being of students. Responsibilities may include student transportation and direct care, depending on the specific assignment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • For Title One Schools ONLY: Associate's degree OR Sixty (60) credits minimum OR Passing score (464) on the Praxis Paraprofessional test.
  • Complete Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training within 6 months of employment (for Behavior Health Assistants).
  • Complete First Aid training within 6 months of employment.
  • Complete CPR training within 6 months of employment.
  • Complete Medication Administration training within 6 months of employment.
  • Must have a valid Florida Driver's License and a safe driving record prior to employment and maintain it while employed (if transportation of students is a routine duty).
  • Submit to a Level 2 background check pursuant to Florida State Statute 435.04.
  • Be found eligible by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ESE Behavior Health Assistant support.
  • Provide ESE General Health Assistant support.
  • Complete required training within 6 months of employment, including Safe Crisis Management (SCM), First Aid, CPR, and Medication Administration.
  • Lift 35 pounds (for General Health Assistants).
  • Transport students if it is a routine part of assigned duties, requiring a valid Florida Driver's License and a safe driving record.
