About The Position

This position supports students with disabilities in general health settings. Specific training is required within 6 months of employment, including First Aid, CPR, and Medication Administration. General Health Assistants must be able to lift 35 pounds. If student transportation is a duty, a valid Florida Driver's License and a safe driving record are required.

Requirements

  • For Non-Title One Schools: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • For Title One Schools ONLY: High School diploma or equivalent AND one of the following: Associate's degree from an accredited institution, OR Sixty (60) credits minimum from an accredited institution, OR Passing score (464) on the Praxis Paraprofessional test.
  • Complete Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training within 6 months of employment (for ESE Behavior Health Assistants).
  • Complete First Aid training within 6 months of employment.
  • Complete CPR training within 6 months of employment.
  • Complete Medication Administration training as required by Federal Medicaid regulations within 6 months of employment.
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds (for General Health Assistants).
  • If transportation of students is a routine part of assigned duties: must have a valid Florida Driver's License and a safe driving record prior to employment; must maintain the same while employed.
  • Successful completion of training requirements in CPR, First Aid and Medication Administration as required by Federal Medicaid regulations to be provided by the School Board during contracted working hours at the employee's regular rate of pay within 6 months of employment for Behavioral Health Assistants or General Health Assistants assigned to a unit with a Medicaid student.
  • Submit to a Level 2 background check pursuant to Florida State Statute 435.04 and be found eligible by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
