About The Position

First American is seeking an Escrow Advisor to join their Homebuilder Services team. This role will provide support to escrow operational staff by setting, communicating, and clarifying the governance of escrow transactions, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as company underwriting, escrow, and auditing guidelines. The Escrow Advisor will act in an advisory capacity, offering information and training to client groups. This position is remote within the United States and may involve some travel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • 5-7 years as an Escrow Officer or related work experience
  • Experience in multiple types of escrows such as commercial, bulk, mobile home and new home/subdivision
  • Strong customer interfacing skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated; self-starter
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond quickly to emergent problems

Responsibilities

  • Consults with and advises Escrow Officers on transactions, including how to address unusual circumstances, structure transactions, select appropriate documents, and follow guidelines.
  • Stays updated on new laws, current market trends, and escrow issues to provide guidance and consultation to escrow officers.
  • Reviews and analyzes reports, summarizes information, and identifies trends to keep management informed.
  • Reports identified gaps in training or guidelines to the advisory group based on feedback from escrow staff.
  • Works with training staff to coordinate training.
  • Audits training and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Audits escrow files as requested or manages and administers an escrow audit program for state(s).
  • Works on special projects such as responding to regulatory inquiries, gathering documentation for the legal department, performing tasks for office closures (trial balance clean-up), and reviewing statistical reports.
  • Acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME)/Liaison for FACC, reporting rate changes, testing new rates, and monitoring requests for fixes.
  • Administers the FACC Override Report, disseminating and reviewing override reports to escrow administrators.
