About The Position

The ER Tech works in the Emergency Department at Trinity Health Livingston under the direction of a registered nurse. The role provides direct patient care while considering patients’ age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. The ER Tech helps maintain a clean, safe care environment that supports patient and family wellbeing and relationship-based care. Training is provided to prepare colleagues for success.

The Emergency Department is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, caring for minor illnesses and injuries as well as major life-threatening, traumatic, medical, and surgical problems.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of previous direct-care experience in an acute or long-term care setting, or successful completion of a CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed the nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation with assistive devices, feeding, and menu selection.
• Collect and send specimens, including blood and blood cultures.
• Insert and remove peripheral IV catheters.
• Record patient information and required data in appropriate areas to meet documentation requirements.
• Help establish and maintain a clean, safe patient-care environment that supports patient and family wellbeing.
