ER Tech - Emergency Department - Full Time, Day-Shift
About The Position
The ED Tech assists nursing and medical staff by performing selected procedures and emergency duties in the care of Emergency Department patients. The role also performs Unit Secretary duties and therefore includes both clinical and clerical responsibilities. All duties must be within the scope of the employee’s training and instruction and are performed under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. The Emergency Department has 32 beds divided into four pods, plus nine beds in the Clinical Decision Unit, and treats an average of more than 150 patients per day. Patients include neonates through geriatric patients, with cases ranging from acute cardiovascular and neurovascular emergencies to general medical emergencies, traumatic injuries, and psychiatric care. The department emphasizes teamwork and collaboration across a multidisciplinary group of professionals.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Recent experience in a health care setting providing patient care.
- BCLS certification within the first 90 days.
Responsibilities
- Performs desk duties in a clerical role with high levels of accuracy.
- Provides care appropriate to the emergency population and maintains the environment of care.
- Assists the nursing staff in triage.
- Assists nursing and medical staff with selected procedures and emergency duties within the scope of training and instruction.
