About The Position
The Cass Lake Indian Health Service Unit is seeking an ER Physician to provide emergency medical services. This facility operates as a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) and Outpatient Ambulatory Care Clinic, offering a wide range of medical services and 24/7 emergency care. The ER Physician will be responsible for maintaining a continuous presence in the Emergency Department, providing immediate medical care to patients, and managing in-hospital emergencies.
Requirements
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine.
- No less than 2 years of full-time ER experience in a high-volume ED.
- Must be MD or DO.
- Capable of treating patients of all ages.
- Must have a current DEA.
- Must have and maintain current certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS by way of an American Heart training program (AHA or Red Cross).
Responsibilities
- Maintain a continuous vigil within the immediate confines of the Emergency Department.
- Obtain a medical history, perform a physical examination, and formulate a diagnosis.
- Render immediate medical services to emergent patients.
- Request and interpret laboratory and radiologic tests.
- Provide and order medically indicated treatment.
- Interpret x-rays and electrocardiograms.
- Suture minor lacerations and treat uncomplicated fractures.
- Refer patients as appropriate to the Outpatient department.
- Render initial assessments for patient transfers to tertiary care centers and consult with the appropriate physician on-call.
- Respond to in-hospital emergencies while on duty.
