About The Position

This is a Registered Nurse position in a Level III Trauma Center Emergency Department with 46 beds (including 5 Safe Psychiatric rooms). The department sees an average of 200 patients per day, ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics, and handles a variety of cases including trauma, GSW, sepsis, COVID-19, high volumes of STEMI and stroke, DKA, mental health issues, respiratory issues, and geriatric population needs. The department is supported by Emergency Room technicians, a 24/7 Resource/Float Nurse, an ED Educator, increased security, a 24/7 House Supervisor, 24/7 Social Work Services, and 24/7 Pharmacy support. The charting system is EPIC, and equipment includes Alaris, Pyxis, and central/bedside telemetry monitoring. The work environment is described as traveler-friendly, fast-paced, and collaborative, with many travelers extending their contracts.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department experience.
  • BLS certification.
  • ACLS certification.
  • PALS certification.
  • TNCC certification.
  • NIHSS certification.
  • CPI/MOAB certification.
  • General Emergency Department experience.
  • Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills.
  • IV skills.
  • Basic knowledge of drips and medication administration.
  • Procedural sedation skills.
  • Blood administration skills.
  • Recent EPIC experience is required.
  • Completion and passing of the required competency exam prior to starting is mandatory.

  • Experience with TNK and cardiac medications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics.
  • Manage a variety of patient conditions including trauma, GSW, sepsis, COVID-19, STEMI, stroke, DKA, mental health issues, respiratory issues, and geriatric needs.
  • Administer medications and perform procedural sedation.
  • Perform cardiac rhythm interpretation.
  • Utilize IV skills for medication administration.
  • Provide basic knowledge of drips and medication administration.
  • Administer blood products.
  • Complete required competency exams, including telemetry competency.
  • Work 2 of 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day.
