About The Position

Assist the department by using critical thinking skills. The basic workflow would be to ensure that critical carts and patient care equipment is ready and available for patient use. This would include equipment, supplies, and any needed items to complete carts and processing of patient care equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining the process of exchanging Crash Carts to units after Crash Cart use within an appropriate time frame.
  • Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis while monitoring SPD supply areas for compliance to regulatory agencies.
  • Obtains, returns, and delivers equipment to SPD for disinfection on a regular basis; does minor troubleshooting and preventative maintenance of equipment; as necessary; specifically, patient care equipment and Crash Carts.
  • Cleans and disinfects equipment as per standards and policies and ensures equipment is functioning properly and stored appropriately.
  • Assesses and stocks Crash Cart after use assuring sterility dates have not expired. Works with SPD Materials Representative to maintain Par Level of Crash Cart supplies.
  • Works collaboratively with all Departments, Clinical Engineering, Nursing Units, Sterile Processing Team Members, and Cardiovascular Clinical Specialist.
  • Demonstrates ability to handle changing priorities that may arise. Pays attention to details of job and maintains an organized system for documentation, reports, record keeping, files and workflow. Maintains accountability for follow up on job functions that are time sensitive.
  • Works in a self-directed manner, accurately communicating pertinent information to appropriate personnel. Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by Manager, Lead Clinician, Lead Technicians or Materials Representative.
  • As part of the annual evaluation process, submits a list of year end accomplishments as well as goals that are reviewed and mutually agreed upon for the coming year.
  • Use of computer applications: Understands and properly utilizes SPM to document work completed. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook.
  • Personal/ Professional growth will be maintained through AH OD classes, in-service education, conferences, and literature.
  • Other tasks which may be required: assignments that meet the needs of the department.
